Henry Cowell helped create Peermusic's classical catalog by selecting works by Charles Ives and many of the younger American composers of the day. In years following, Peermusic added to its collection works by landmark American composers such as Elliott Carter and Virgil Thomson. Highlights include Ives's The Unanswered Question, Carter's Elegy and David Diamond's Symphony No. 2.

Peermusic Classical has extended its catalog through such significant voices from the U.S. and Latin America as Morten Lauridsen, Derek Bermel, John Musto, Ingram Marshall, Tania Leon, Arturo Marquez, and Miguel del Aguila. The guiding principle is one of seeking delight and beauty as well as challenge in new music.
Way back in the last century Lou Harrison noted that he was inspired by the "whole wide world" of music. Composers have widened that world exponentially in recent years, and we hope to play a part in its further enrichment.
